The demand for power is constantly growing. The growing demand is being met through new power sources being brought on line, such as wind power, hydro electric power, natural gas, tidal power and solar power. Increases in available energy have to be matched by the capacity of the transmission grid. Often times electrical transmission capacity issues can be met by upgrading existing lines. Whether permanently increasing power to a specific area, or temporarily adding power to compensate for maintenance on other lines, many detailed questions have to be addressed.
How does the added voltage affect the current build of the line? Does the increase create new clearance violations? Is there room to move some of the wires/structures if needed? Using airborne LiDAR and digital imaging, Terra can provide all the data required to answer these questions. In a PLS-CADD modeling environment, highly accurate as-built models can be developed and used for Re-Rating analyses, including:
