Position: Geomatics Technician – Field Operations

Position Description:
Terra is seeking experienced full-time Field Geomatics Technicians to be part of our Aerial Survey Team. This role includes lidar and image surveys, GPS ground control, data validation, analysis as well as processing and reporting of results.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor – Field Survey Operations, responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Aerial LiDAR, aerial photography, and specialized imaging surveys for clients within various sectors (Forestry, Transportation, Electrical Transmission, etc.).
• Mission and logistical planning and execution; including, but not limited to coordinating equipment preparation, checklists, process forms, etc.
• Monitoring system performance, real-time and post-acquisition data analysis, and quality control procedures to ensure completeness and high-quality data is surveyed and maintained throughout a project lifecycle.
• GPS grounds surveys to position and validate the aerial results. Designing and implementing GPS control networks on passive monuments or using active control, RTK surveys.
• Processing, calibrating and analyzing data collected from remote sensing equipment (LiDAR, digital photography, specialized imaging sensors, etc.).
• Proactively performing maintenance and testing in order to ensure proper working condition of equipment – hardware, firmware, software and interdependencies.
• Support for the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and documentation relevant to the Aerial Survey Department.

Employment Opportunity: Hydrographic Survey TechnicianPosition                            Description:
Terra is seeking a full-time Hydrographic Technician to assist with hydrographic and geophysical surveys as well as CAD support, and data processing.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Marine Department Manager, the successful candidate is responsible for: • Conducting high-resolution hydrographic, topographic, and marine geophysical surveys. • Set-up, calibration and operation of navigation and positioning equipment to ensure accurate data collection. • Maintaining field logs as well as processing and analyzing data during and after survey completion. • Involved with all project mobilization requirements, including project checklists, forms, and equipment.
• Maintaining standard operating procedures, work instructions and documentation in relation to the marine surveying tasks.
• Provision of CAD and GIS data processing and analysis.
• Performing maintenance and testing in order to diagnose and correct software and hardware issues.
• Conducting routine maintenance of survey launches, trailers, and vehicles.
• Driving vehicles and vessels, as required.
Qualifications/Skills
• Undergraduate degree or related diploma in a related Surveying program.
• 0-2+ years experience in marine high-resolution data acquisition; including hydrographic and other types of marine surveys.
• Good trouble-shooting skills (software, mechanical, electronic).
• Working knowledge and/or familiarity with marine survey equipment; including bathymetric-side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, water level gauge, and RTK systems, as well as the interfacing navigation and data collection software.
• Working knowledge and/or familiarity with single-beam & multibeam echo sounders.
• Experience using Hypack/HySweep, AutoCAD, GIS and any other pertinent and related software is considered an asset.

Position:  IT Systems Administrator

Position Description

Terra is seeking an experienced a full-time IT System Administrator to oversee the configuration and maintenance of the organization’s IT systems and servers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and coordinates computer systems and IT related processes for the organization (i.e. hardware, software, servers, etc.)
  • Acts as the overall administrator for the Windows Server; including, setting up and managing user accounts (e.g. email, etc.) as well as allocating adequate storage capacity.
  • Manages the procurement and configuration of all IT related purchases.
  • Ensures appropriate antivirus and security software, hardware and related processes are in place to protect against malware and other potential threats.
  • Applies software patches/upgrades and responds to end-user requests, as required.
  • Proactively performs maintenance and testing in order to diagnose and correct software and hardware problems before they arise.
  • Assists project personnel with the movement, organization and storage of data.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for all personnel requiring IT related support.
  • Investigates the latest computer technologies and hardware to ensure the organization is utilizing the most effective and efficient tools (includes R&D) and planning pro-actively for the future.
  • Maintains and develops procedures, work instructions and documentation in relation to the IT function.

Qualifications/Skills

  • IT Certification or equivalent as well as a minimum of two (2) years’ relevant business experience
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in an MS Windows business environment
  • Database knowledge required
  • Ability to manage multiple end-user requests and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently
  • A valid and clear criminal record check is required.

Position:  Part-Time Administrative Assistant

Position Description

Terra is seeking an experienced part-time (15-20 hours per week) Administrative Assistant to assist with will all aspects of administration; including, but not limited to, managing front desk reception as well as general filing and general support in expense management, invoicing, accounts payables and receivables.

Specific responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Filing, scanning and photocopying documents.
  • Creating, labelling and organizing electronic and hard copy folders.
  • Assisting with the preparation of basic invoices for clients.
  • Assisting with the word processing and formatting of various documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Assisting with the processing of staff expense claims.
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing daily mail/deliveries.
  • Maintaining office supplies; ordering essential kitchen items, keeping reception area presentable at all times.
  • Updating boardroom calendars and scheduling meetings.
  • Arranging travel and accommodations, as required by key staff.
  • Coverage for reception on lunch, vacations and sick days.

Qualifications/Skills

  • 3+ years of similar experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a must.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work, troubleshoot and problem solve independently.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
